Learning Matters, an ed-tech company headquartered in Bangalore is hosting their annual Star Educator Awards Gala on Friday, September 3.
Star Educator Awards is a humble effort by Learning Matters to bring much-deserved recognition to exceptional educators and institutions who are making undeterred efforts during these difficult times to keep learning alive in students. Hundreds of nominations were received from across the world for the ten award categories that honour excellence in teaching and those who championed the cause of education. The 10 winners will be revealed and honoured at the awards gala on September 3. The Star Educator Awards is absolutely free and open to educators anywhere.
This year, the awards gala will be graced by Dr. Malvika Iyer – a renowned motivational speaker and global icon and activist for disability and child rights, gender equality, and education. Dr. Iyer, a bilateral amputee who lost both arms at the age of 13 in an explosion, exemplifies courage and determination. She overcame gruesome challenges from a tender age to not only top her 10th exams but also go on to complete her Masters, Ph.D. and M.Phil. Dr. Iyer is the recipient of the National Award ‘Nari Shakti Puraskar’ – the highest civilian honor for outstanding contribution to women’s empowerment from the President of India.
Dr. Iyer will be conversing with Learning Matters about the critical role that education and teachers played in helping her overcome adversity and become who she is today. Join the gala to witness the grit of a fighter and get inspired to overcome limitations and take on the world with confidence and hope.
