BENGALURU / January 4, 2022 – More than 60 less-privileged women in late stages of pregnancy attended a community baby shower program, titled Janani, held at BBMP Maternity Hospital, NR Colony. Renowned Kannada film actress Sudha Rani was Chief Guest at the function organized by the Radhakrishna Foundation, in association with the Katte Sathya Foundation.
The dignitaries present included Shri Ravi Subramanya, MLA, Basavanagudi; Shri BS Satyanarayana (Katte Sathya) Ex-Mayor and Hon. President of the Katte Sathya Foundation; Shri Sudhindra, Chairman, Katte Sathya Foundation, and prominent gynecologist Dr. Vidya V Bhat, Chairman, Radhakrishna Foundation.
The women, all BPL card holders with more than five-months pregnancy, were given health checkups, including hemoglobin and ante-natal tests. They were also administered Covid vaccination. The expecting mothers were also given gifts including a saree, bangles, fruits, protein powder and a stainless-steel plate.
Said Dr. Vidya V Bhat, Chairman, Radhakrishna Foundation, who is also Medical Director of RadhaKrishna Multispecialty Hospital, Bengaluru: “The idea behind holding this event is to respect motherhood, educate women about what to do and what not to do during pregnancy, check their health status, and encourage hospital deliveries. All this immensely helps ensure that mothers-to-be give births to their babies smoothly.”
RadhaKrishna Foundation has been involved in holding community baby shower (Seemantha) function every three months at BBMP Maternity Hospital since the year 2018. This was the first such function held since the pandemic began.
