Collaborates with Parikrma Centre for learning and Sai Gurukul for the academic year 2022 –2023

Bangalore, 14  Sep 2022: Subramaniam Academy of Performing Arts (SaPa) and Pearl Coschem’s CSR Fund impart free music education to over 800 students from NGO Schools, including textbooks as part of their outreach programme. The Academy collaborates with Parikrma Centre for Learning and Sai Gurukul for the academic year 2022 – 2023.  The students in these schools will receive music education from SaPa in Schools faculty, who are trained and provided with an in-house designed curriculum and instruments such as Xylophones, claves, shakers, tambourines, sleigh bells and handbells to teach music.

This year, the SaPa music program was started in Sai Gurukul, Parikrma Centre for Learning (Koramangala, Sahakarnagar, Nandini Layout) in July 2022 and in Parikrma Centre for Learning (Jayanagar) in August 2022. SaPa has been working with these schools in the past years.

At SaPa, the focus has been given to activity-based learning and the children are exposed to songs and cultures from different parts of the world. In addition to this, some classes involve making simple models of musical elements and instruments to improve a child’s understanding of the instrument.

In addition to providing music education to the students, SaPa provides employment and uplifts the status of music teachers in the community. This is a very important part of strengthening the music education system in India, where these roles, which are the basis of a country’s future, are more respected and given equal importance.
