Bengaluru: Congress leader and former corporator S Udaykumar has opined that Congress workers should gear up from now itself to face the forthcoming BBMP and the legislative assembly elections. The building of the party has to begin from the grassroots.
He was speaking at a meeting of the party workers organised by the Varthur block Congress in Munnekolala ward in Mahadevapura assembly constituency on Saturday. Hundreds of party workers participated.
The block committee discussed how the party workers should get ready for the elections and the ways and means of strengthening the party. An order for the formation of the Munnekolala ward committee of the party has been issued.
Mr. Udaykumar said that the party must reach out to every house and all have to be taken into confidence while working. While spreading the achievements of the Congress, the failures of the BJP to provide infrastructure facilities have to be communicated effectively. People should be told about the rampant corruption in the state, he said.
AICC Secretary Abhishek Dutt, KPCC General Secretary Aga Sultan, former MP Chandrappa, KPCC Women’s Wing President Salma Taj, DCC President Shekar, KPCC SC Cell Vice President Nelluralli Nagesh, Varthur Block President VTB Babu, Marathalli Block President P.S. Babu, and others participated in the meeting and gave suggestions.
