Bengaluru, 26 May 2023: Akshayakalpa Organic presents the Karnataka State Chess Championship, a captivating event that combines the excitement of chess with the promotion of sustainable farming. The tournament, organized by Bengaluru Urban District Chess Association (BUDCA) and Akshayakalpa Organic was inaugurated today at Forum Mall, Kanakapura Road.

The 5 days of exemplary chess battles will bring together the brightest chess talents across all age groups from Karnataka to compete for the ultimate glory. Day 1 of the event kicked off with Dr. Brinda V, Director, DSRQ, Dept. Of Space, Govt. Of India making the first move of the tournament and inaugurated the event with the esteemed panel including Mr. M N Nataraj (Regional Director – NYKS Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Govt. Of India, Southern States), Mr. D P Anantha (President of KSCA), Mr. T N Madhukar (Vice President of KSCA), Dr. Muralidhar (Vice President of KSCA), Nagendra Muralidhar (Vice President of KSCA), Mr. Shashi Kumar (Co-founder &CEO, Akshayakalpa Organic) and Sowmya M.U (President, BUDCA) along with Mr. Manoj Singh (Vice President, Forum Mall).

The event saw a huge number of registrations, with a total of 503 registered participants for 5 days of the tournament. Chess players of all ages and skill levels participated on day 1 of this inclusive tournament, where they displayed their strategic prowess and compete for the title of Akshayakalpa Organic State Chess Champion.

Dr. Brinda V, Director, DSRQ, Dept. Of Space, Govt. Of India congratulated the organizers for a successful start and shared that, “The importance of chess in the brain development, especially in the growing phase of the children is immense. There should be an intensified research in this domain to make chess popular and make it a family game. We should also look out innovations in the game of chess to make it at least a 4 people game instead of 2.” 

Mr. M N Nataraj, Regional Director – NYKS Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Govt. Of India, Southern States, during the inauguration said, “I am elated to be a part of the inauguration ceremony and would like to congratulate each one of the participants. The game of chess helps our younger generation with their mental and physical development, and also helps in the overall growth.”
