Bangalore, May 21st, 2024 – Narayana Health City in Bangalore celebrated a breakthrough in cancer care with the successful treatment of a patient using CAR T-cell therapy.
Hamza Khan, a 42-year-old resident of Bangalore, battled relapsed follicular lymphoma, a cancer of the lymph nodes. After traditional therapies failed, Khan received CAR T-cell therapy, a novel immunotherapy, becoming the first patient in South India to do so.
“This case exemplifies the potential of CAR T-Cell therapy to provide durable remission in relapsed lymphoma,” said Dr. Sharat Damodar, who led Khan’s treatment.
Following CAR T-cell therapy in November 2022, Khan experienced minimal side effects and achieved remission. This innovative treatment offers hope to patients with limited treatment options.
“We are immensely proud of the strides made in cancer treatment at Narayana Health City,” said the Hospital’s Facility Director. “Our commitment to adopting cutting-edge therapies underscores our dedication to offering the best possible care and hope to our patients.”
Narayana Health City’s success with CAR T-cell therapy marks a new era in cancer treatment, providing a lifeline to patients facing aggressive cancers.
