Anekal Forest Range Gets a Greener Future Thanks to CSR Collaboration - thisweekindia

Bengaluru, February 17 – The Anekal Forest Range near Bannerghatta National Park is getting a boost in its fight against deforestation thanks to a partnership between Ruva Foundation, Smarsh India, and the Karnataka Forest Department. A recent reforestation drive saw 1,000 saplings planted by over 190 volunteers, supported by Smarsh India’s “Parivartan” CSR program.

The initiative, beyond simply planting trees, focused on community engagement and long-term sustainability. Smarsh India employees personalized the effort by dedicating saplings to loved ones, and a training session led by forest officials highlighted the importance of such collaborative projects. Recognizing the vital role of forest watchers, Ruva Foundation also provided them with essential safety equipment. A comprehensive maintenance plan, including monitoring and protection, is in place to ensure the saplings’ survival.

“This project demonstrates the power of collective action against climate change,” said Dr. Saravan Stanley, Founder of Ruva Foundation. “By uniting communities, corporations, and government, we’re building a sustainable future.”

Poonam Bajaj, Senior Director of HR at Smarsh India, added, “Through our ‘Parivartan’ CSR initiative, we’re thrilled to support this reforestation project. The active participation of our employees, dedicating saplings to loved ones, makes this effort even more meaningful. We’re committed to combating climate change and inspiring others to join us.”

The Anekal Forest Range, bordering Bannerghatta National Park, has been impacted by urbanization and deforestation. This reforestation drive is a crucial step towards restoring the area’s biodiversity and resilience.
