Apollo Cancer Centres Launches ‘End-O Check’ for Early Detection of Endometrial and Ovarian Cancers

Apollo Cancer Centres Launches End-O Check- thisweekindia

Bengaluru, July 30, 2025 – Apollo Cancer Centres (ACC) today announced the launch of End-O Check, a vital new program designed to significantly improve the early screening and diagnosis of endometrial and ovarian cancers in women. This initiative underscores ACC’s unwavering commitment to preventive oncology, particularly for women aged 45 and above, a demographic at higher risk for these conditions.

End-O Check offers a comprehensive approach, including risk-based assessments, diagnostic testing, and thorough symptom evaluation. The program aims to catch these prevalent gynecologic cancers at their earliest, most treatable stages, drastically improving patient outcomes.

The Critical Need for Early Detection

Ovarian cancer, often tragically dubbed the “silent killer,” frequently goes undiagnosed until advanced stages. However, when detected early, its five-year survival rate soars to over 90%. While it commonly affects women between 55 and 64, with the average diagnosis at 63, the subtle nature of its symptoms often leads to delayed discovery.

In India, the fight against cancer is becoming increasingly urgent. Total cancer cases are projected to reach 1.57 million by 2025, with ovarian and uterine cancers consistently ranking among the top five cancers affecting women. Contributing factors like changing reproductive patterns, urban lifestyles, and a rise in metabolic conditions highlight the critical need for targeted early detection programs in high-risk populations.

While endometrial cancer often presents with clear symptoms such as unexpected bleeding or abnormal discharge, many women unfortunately delay reporting these signs, leading to poorer outcomes. End-O Check directly addresses this challenge by emphasizing symptom awareness and timely intervention, empowering women to proactively manage their gynecologic health.
Mr. Dinesh Madhavan, President, Group Oncology & International, Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd, emphasized the program’s significance: “Early detection remains our most powerful ally in improving survival and quality of life in cancer care. End-O Check is a proactive step, shifting the narrative from treatment to screening and early diagnosis, enabling timely detection and precision treatment by our cancer management teams.” He also revealed plans to collaborate with numerous hospitals, nursing homes, and labs nationwide to broaden awareness and promote overall wellness.

Dr. Rani Bhat, Senior Consultant – Gynae Oncology, Apollo Cancer Centre, Bengaluru, highlighted the rising incidence of endometrial cancer: “Endometrial cancer has been on the rise among women, making early detection absolutely crucial for better outcomes. Global data indicates a five-year survival rate of around 96% for localized disease. However, survival rates drop substantially when diagnosis is delayed, underscoring the importance of timely detection. Key risk factors such as obesity, diabetes, early menstruation, late menopause, and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) are all becoming more prevalent among Indian women, increasing the need for vigilant screening.”

Dr. Aruna R Patil, Senior Consultant and Head of Department of Radiology, Apollo Cancer Centre, Bengaluru, detailed the role of advanced diagnostics: “Radiology plays a crucial role in the early detection of gynecologic cancers. Through End-O Check, we are integrating transvaginal ultrasonography (TVS) as the primary diagnostic tool. This helps us identify subtle changes that could indicate early-stage ovarian or endometrial cancers. Early imaging intervention allows clinicians to act promptly, significantly improving treatment options and outcomes for patients.”

End-O Check represents a significant leap forward in preventive women’s health, offering hope for earlier diagnosis and improved survival rates in the battle against gynecologic cancers.
