Mumbai – December 11, 2025 – The Mumbai Educational Trust (MET) Institute of Mass Media (IMM) has earned a prestigious Certificate of World Record for creating a monumental trophy entirely from e-waste and eco-friendly materials. This striking installation, measuring 9.5 feet tall and weighing 350 kilograms, stands as a powerful symbol of sustainability and student innovation.
The Certificate of World Record was formally presented to Hon. Trustee Shri Pankaj Bhujbal at the MET Bandra Campus by Mr. Shrikant Kale, Secretary of the Global Book of Excellence, England.
The gigantic trophy was unveiled on December 05, 2025, culminating a project dedicated to the vision of MET and its commitment to excellence. At the unveiling, Shri Pankaj Bhujbal, Trustee – MET, stated, “This award symbolizes our unwavering commitment to the vision of MET, inspiring future generations to strive for excellence. This award is dedicated to our hon. Founder Chairman, Shri Chaggan Bhujbal.”
The Student-Led Initiative
The Build: The large-scale installation was constructed live on November 18, 2025, during a six-hour build (9:30 am to 3:30 pm) at the MET Bhujbal Knowledge City, Bandra.
The Team: A dedicated team of 69 students from MET IMM, led by Ronak Thakkar and Althea Sequeira, collaborated across specialized teams (media, design, production, fabrication, etc.) to transform discarded materials into a meaningful work of art.
The Mentorship: The initiative was shaped by the vision of Shri Pankaj Bhujbal, Hon. Trustee, MET, with support from Smt. Vishaka Bhujbal, Senior Management Representative, and academic mentorship from Dr. Priya Menon Nair, Director, MET IMM. Renowned visual artist Dr. Sumeet Patil provided artistic and structural guidance.
The creation of the trophy serves as the highlight in the run-up to METamorphosis 2025, the institute’s flagship annual media festival, scheduled from December 11 to 13.
The Theme: The festival theme is ‘Mediaverse – Where Thoughts Glow and Time Flows.’
The Award: The sustainable trophy will be presented to the Best College in Mumbai at METamorphosis 2025, recognizing overall performance across cultural, media, intellectual, journalism, and sports categories.
