Bosch, Brakes India, and Wheels India Form Joint Venture for Commercial Vehicle Air Systems - thisweekindia

Bengaluru, India – Bosch Limited, a leading global technology and services supplier, has partnered with TSF Group companies Brakes India Private Limited (BIPL) and Wheels India Limited (WIL) to establish a 50:50 joint venture. The partnership aims to drive growth in advanced, e-enabled air systems for the commercial vehicle segment. Pending regulatory approvals, operations are expected to commence by the end of 2026.

Based in Chennai, the joint venture will focus on the engineering, manufacturing, and sales of electronically controlled, software-driven modules. These include solutions for air compression, air processing, air suspension, and air parking brakes. Global supply chains, including India, will be managed collectively by Bosch, Brakes India, and Wheels India.

 “This joint venture is a decisive step to shape the future of advanced air systems,” said Guruprasad Mudlapur, President of the Bosch Group in India and Managing Director of Bosch Limited. “By integrating premier engineering and manufacturing prowess, we are co-creating state-of-the-art, intelligent modules that will empower our customers globally to build more advanced commercial vehicles.”

Sandeep Nelamangala, Joint Managing Director of Bosch Limited and President of Bosch Mobility India, highlighted the industry’s shift from mechanical hardware to software-driven architecture. He noted that the air systems portfolio strengthens Bosch’s role in software-driven mobility and enhances its overall commercial vehicle motion management offerings.

Representing the TSF Group, Sriram Viji, Managing Director of Brakes India, emphasized the value of their pneumatic braking systems expertise.

“Through this joint venture, we will be able to offer air braking system parts for e-enabled future mobility to customers. We look forward to supporting the industry’s shift towards more advanced, electronically controlled, and software-driven systems,” Viji stated.

Srivats Ram, Chairman & Managing Director of Wheels India, expressed enthusiasm for advancing electronic air suspension systems globally. He cited Wheels India’s three-decade legacy as a pioneer in air suspension systems for buses in India and its strong relationships with OEMs and end-users.

The transaction has received approval from the boards of the Bosch Group, Bosch Limited, Brakes India, and Wheels India. By combining their shared capabilities, the partnering companies are uniquely positioned to deliver enhanced value, addressing accelerating customer demands for efficiency, safety, and automation in the commercial vehicle sector.
