Integrated Cell-to-Container production bolsters India’s advanced clean energy and grid storage capabilities.

BENGALURU | July 20, 2026 — Midwest Energy, the clean energy and technology division of the Midwest Business House, today announced the commercial commissioning of its 1.2 GWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) manufacturing facility in Bengaluru.

Featuring end-to-end Cell-to-Container integration, the new facility manufactures battery modules, trays, racks, and fully integrated containerised systems. The plant delivers scalable, custom energy storage solutions ranging from 3 kWh to 6 MWh (48V–1500V) to serve commercial, industrial, renewable integration, and utility-scale grid applications across domestic and global markets.

Designed to globally benchmarked quality and safety standards, the facility operates with advanced quality assurance, full component traceability, and rigorous end-of-line testing. Products are aligned with key global safety certifications, including UL 1973, UL 9540, and UL 9540A.

As renewable energy deployment expands rapidly, battery storage is critical to maintaining grid stability, resolving demand-supply mismatches, and ensuring power resilience.

Soumya K, Chief Executive Officer, Midwest Energy Limited, stated:

“India is pursuing an accelerated transition towards a cleaner energy future driven by renewability, sustainability, decarbonisation, and decentralisation. While renewable integration brings grid challenges, Battery Energy Storage Systems provide a reliable, fast-deployable solution to create a resilient energy ecosystem.

“Through this facility, we are building indigenous capabilities to design, manufacture, and deploy advanced storage solutions that are proudly designed and made in India. Our vision is to become a trusted, long-term partner in supporting the country’s clean energy transition.”

The commissioning represents a major step in Midwest Energy’s strategy to scale up indigenous manufacturing of critical energy technologies.
