BENGALURU, October 23, 2026 — NU Hospitals, a leading specialized healthcare institution in urology, nephrology, fertility, and renal transplantation, announced three major initiatives designed to strengthen technology-driven, patient-centric care. The unveiled milestones include the AMS EDGE Robotic Surgical System, the NU App, and The Link 2024–26 publication.
The unveiling took place in Bengaluru with renowned actor, filmmaker, director, and television host Mr. Ramesh Aravind attending as chief guest. Key leadership members from NU Hospitals were also present, including Chairman Dr. Venkatesh Krishnamoorthy, Group Medical Director Dr. Dilip Rangarajan, and Managing Director Dr. Prasanna Venkatesh M K. Currently, NU Hospitals operates three centers in Bengaluru (Rajajinagar, Padmanabhanagar, and Mission Road), along with units in Shivamogga, Ambur (Tamil Nadu), and the Maldives.
Next-Generation Surgical Precision
The introduction of the AMS EDGE Robotic Surgical System represents a significant advancement in specialized surgical care. The platform features high-definition 3D vision with up to 10x magnification, a flexible four-arm robotic configuration, and articulated instruments that offer superior dexterity. Augmented by AI-assisted imaging, indocyanine green (ICG) fluorescence technology, and telesurgery capabilities for remote collaboration, the system provides surgeons with enhanced control during intricate procedures.
Compared to traditional open surgery and standard laparoscopy, robotic-assisted techniques allow for greater precision and flexibility. These capabilities can lead to key clinical benefits for patients, such as reduced blood loss, decreased post-operative pain, shorter hospital stays, and quicker recovery times.
Dr. Prasanna Venkatesh M K, Managing Director and Senior Consultant Pediatric Urologist, stated, “Our focus has always been to advance specialized healthcare while keeping patients at the center of every decision. The introduction of robotic surgical technology reflects our commitment to adopting meaningful innovations that support surgical expertise, improve precision, and strengthen the quality of care we deliver.”
Streamlining Care via the NU App
To make healthcare management seamless and accessible, the institution launched the NU App. This comprehensive digital portal integrates appointment booking, virtual consultations, medical record access, digital prescriptions, online pharmacy ordering, home laboratory sample collection, and digital payments into a single user interface.
Dr. Dilip Rangarajan, Group Medical Director, noted, “Technology can make a meaningful difference when it simplifies care for patients and supports clinical teams. Through the NU App, we aim to make essential healthcare services easier to access, helping patients navigate appointments, consultations, and medical information with greater convenience.”
Documenting Impact and Milestones
The third initiative, The Link 2024–26, serves as NU Hospitals’ institutional publication documenting its mission, achievements, organizational values, and collective team experiences across its journey of clinical growth.
Chief Guest Mr. Ramesh Aravind commended the initiatives, noting, “When technology and compassion come together, healthcare can make a real difference in people’s lives.”
Dr. Venkatesh Krishnamoorthy, Chairman, added, “Every milestone reflects the trust our patients place in us and the commitment of our teams. As healthcare continues to evolve, our responsibility is to keep improving, embrace meaningful advancements, and ensure that compassionate care remains at the heart of everything we do.”
To date, NU Hospitals has performed over 750 kidney transplants, more than 200 robotic surgeries (including over 50 pediatric robotic procedures), and has impacted over 12 lakh lives. Together, these new initiatives reinforce the hospital’s long-term strategy of building an innovative, accessible, and future-ready nephro-urology ecosystem.
