Bengaluru, India – March 13, 2025 – In a concerted effort to prioritize women’s well-being, MSD Pharmaceuticals and Apollo Cradle & Children’s Hospital have launched “Together for Her Well-being,” a crucial initiative aimed at educating women on preventive healthcare and reproductive health. This collaboration addresses the alarming rise of HPV-related cancers in India, with cervical cancer being the second most common cancer among Indian women, as evidenced by over 1.5 lakh new cases in 2022.

Leading gynecologists from Apollo Cradle & Children’s Hospital emphasized the importance of proactive healthcare and provided actionable recommendations to safeguard women’s long-term reproductive health:

  • Annual Gynecological Visits: Girls should initiate gynecological check-ups between ages 12 and 16, followed by yearly visits regardless of menstruation status.
  • Preventive Vaccinations: Women are encouraged to discuss and maintain their vaccination schedules, including HPV, MMR, Hepatitis B, and Varicella, to protect against preventable diseases.
  • Early Detection and Prevention: Regular screenings, such as Pap smears and breast examinations, are vital for early detection of potential health issues, including cervical cancer.
  • Prompt Medical Attention: Women should seek medical advice immediately upon noticing any concerning symptoms to prevent complications.
  • Healthy Lifestyle Practices: Maintaining a balanced diet rich in essential nutrients, regular exercise, stress management, and a healthy weight are crucial for hormonal regulation and overall well-being.

Dr. Poornima Ramakrishna, Sr. Consultant Obstetrics & Gynecology at Apollo Cradle & Children’s Hospital, stressed, “Empowering women with knowledge about preventive measures, particularly vaccinations against diseases like cervical cancer, is paramount. Annual gynecological visits and early detection are key to a healthier future. I urge women to take control of their health by consulting with their doctors.”

Dr. Aparna Jha, Sr. Consultant Obstetrics & Gynecology, added, “Prevention is the cornerstone of women’s health. Through vaccinations, regular screenings, and early intervention, women can protect themselves from serious illnesses and lead fulfilling lives. We encourage women to prioritize their health and take proactive steps.”

Dr. Phani Madhuri, Sr. Consultant Obstetrics & Gynecology, highlighted, “Proactive reproductive health management is essential. Regular gynecological visits, awareness of vaccinations like the HPV vaccine, and routine screenings are crucial for long-term well-being. By making informed choices, women can ensure a healthier future for themselves and their families.”

The “Together for Her Well-being” initiative aims to create a platform for ongoing education and support, empowering women to make informed decisions about their health and well-being.
