10th edition of Tour of Nilgiris (TfN) flagged off from Bengaluru
Bengaluru, December 10, 2017: The 10th edition of Tour of Nilgiris (TfN), the annual tour of RideACycle Foundation which has attracted celebrity cyclists to pedal the grand tour, was flagged off this morning from Radisson Blu Atria, Bengaluru by Mr. Bhaskar Rao, IPS, ADGP (Karnataka State Reserve Police), Karnataka State Police, Government of Karnataka. The grand tour will witness 128 cyclists pedal more than 1000 kms across Karnataka, Kerala and Tamilnadu, between December 10 and 17, 2017. Starting from Bengaluru the cyclists will pedal through Mysuru, Madikeri, Sultan Bathery, Udhagamandalam (Ooty) and finish it by pedaling back to Mysore.
Flagging off the TfN, Mr. Bhaskar Rao, said, “Cycling has caught the imagination of the masses and Tour of Nilgiris has become the most loved cycling tour in India and over the years has been repeatedly attracting many overseas riders as well. Cycling as fitness sport is increasingly becoming the need of the hour and even in our department we are actively encouraging more personnel to take to it and Karnataka Darshan by KSRP team was a testimony to this.” Speaking at the flag off event, Satish Belawadi, Tour Director, TfN 2017, said, in the 10th edition we are witnessing the largest cycling contingent participation of 128 cyclists, 120 are men, while 8 are women. Further, 110 cyclists are from different parts of India, while 18 are from overseas and hail from The Netherlands, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Australia, USA and Russia. The Profile of cyclists pedaling TfN 2017, reveal that 65 per cent of the cyclists are senior and middle management professionals from different industry domains.
