200 children with orthopaedic problems will be operated for free
15th November 2018, Bengaluru: On the occasion of Children's Day, SPARSH Hospitals chairman announced that they shall be operating on 200 children who suffer from orthopaedic problems, and hail from a humble background for free of cost.
Dr Sharan Patil operated on a girl named Lakshmi Tatma, who was born with 8 limbs was operated in 2007 as the surgery lasted close to 40 hours at a stretch. It was then that Dr Patil found a need to help children with such problem and who hail from poor families.
Since then, children who are suffering from these problems, are screened at SPARSH Hospital and are then given treatment for free of cost as a part of SPARSH Vachana scheme. Along with the partnership of Mindtree, SPARSH Hospital conducts the program after announcing it on Childrens’ Day.
“Children are the future generation, they are the ones who will lead the nation. With such potential with them, an ailment should not hold them back. Hence the scheme SPARSH Vachana”, expressed Dr Sharan Patil. Mr Parthasarathi N S, CEO of Mindtree said, “SPARSH Hospital has always been forefront in understanding the needs of the needy. This is a noble cause and Mindtree is proud to be a part of.” Justice Shivraj Patil, who was also present at the event addressed the gathering by saying, “The world remembers this day as World Diabetic Day, but in India, we take this day to celebrate the young and energetic children. Hence this is the correct day to help the ones who are not so privileged.”
