Launches First-Of-Its-Kind ‘Silent Delivery Station’ in India

Mumbai, January 18, 2017: Aimed at empowering and transforming the lives of people, India’s leading online marketplace,, today announced the launch of a first-of its-kind ‘Silent Delivery Station’ in Mumbai, India. With the launch of this unique delivery station in partnership with Mirakle Couriers, reiterates its commitment to support diverse communities by creating relevant job opportunities for them.

This ‘silentdelivery station’ made a small beginning one-and-a-half years ago when AmazonIndia partnered with Mirakle Couriers, a Service Partner who employs deaf people. The pilot was with 4 hard of hearing associates who worked alongside hearingassociates in an Amazon delivery station. Seeing their strong performance,Amazon has now extended the partnership to a dedicated station that is almostcompletely managed by deaf associates. 

Theseassociates deliver packages covering a radius of 2-3 kms from the deliverystation by bus or on foot. They are trained on all safety procedures andcustomer experience behaviors by the team at Mirakle Couriers via signlanguage. They use the same technology as hearing associates with somemodification in processes to ease their delivery experience.

The ServicePartner program is one of the last mile models by Amazon Logistics in Indiawherein entrepreneurs act as’s local distribution network providersand create the last mile delivery footprint. Currently, the company hasover 350 Service Partner nodes across the country. As part of the ServicePartner program, had launched a first-of-its-kind Women only deliverystation in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala and the second in Chennai, Tamil has also partnered with another Service Partner, Head Held High toset-up a dedicated 'rural' ecommerce distribution centre manned by local youthin various parts of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.
