Bengaluru Boy tops Karnataka and secures all India 2nd rank in IIT JEE (Mains)
Bengaluru, April 30, 2019:Bengaluru boy Kevin Martin (17) brought laurels to the Garden City by bagging the coveted All India second rank in the IIT JEE (Mains) exams conducted for admission into undergraduate engineering programme offered at NITs, IIITs, SFTIs and CFTIs. Martin has also topped Karnataka state in this exam and is among the 24 students across the country who scored a perfect 100 and will be qualifying for the JEE-Advanced examinations. The National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts the exams, declared the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main Result on Monday night.
Kevin, is a student of Allen Career Institute, which has produced 7 ranks in top 20 across the country. This time, the exam was conducted twice in online mode: from January 8 to 12, and on April 7, 8, 9, 10, and 12. Kevin who appeared for JEE Main in January secured 100 percentile then. Despite topping, he took the JEE Main in April and got an NTA score of 100 again. He is also appearing for the ongoing Karnataka CET.
Kevin attributed his success to teachers who worked hard with him. Now he will be appearing in IIT JEE (Advanced) examinations to be held in the last week of this month. After qualifying this exam, his dream of entering in IIT will be fulfilled.
"My dream is to study in IIT. Besides, classroom coaching at Allen, I devoted 6-7 hours in self-study and practice. My elder brother is pursuing Master’s degree from Switzerland after completing engineering from IIT Madras. He is an inspiration to me," he said.
He said that he kept away from mobile phones and other distractions during preparations. "The test series of Allen was of great help," he said.
Mahesh Yadav, centre head said that the institute worked hard for every students and it gives a great feeling of satisfaction after seeing students successful.
"We are committed to provide quality education and in IITJEE (Advanced) our results will be better," he said.
A total of 11,47,125 candidates appeared in JEE Main in January and April. The top 2,24,000 rankers in JEE Main (including those who appeared in January exam) will be eligible for JEE Advanced 2019 exam.
