CIE @ IIIT H Turns Ten and in this journey, incubated 200 startups

CIE's portfolio startups have raised funding of INR 50 crores from external sources and have generated 1200+ jobs. It has touched 10,000+ entrepreneurs

Hyderabad, 8th June,2018. CIE (Centre ofInnovation and Entrepreneurship) which is part of the IIIT-HyderabadFoundation  completes a successful decade. The DST approved incubatorfounded in 2008 with a vision of commercializing the cuttingedge technologies developed in its research centres, till date, CIE hasphysically incubated 200+ startups, invested INR 3 crores in 30 startups andengaged 17 startups with IIIT-Hyderabad research labs. 

CIE in itsV2.0 now, since T-Hub, has pivoted to focusing on deep-tech startups, seedingstartups coming directly out of research, and actively connecting research withstartups. It now houses 70+ startups, runs two structured technology basedaccelerators (one on deep tech, and one on medtech) and is very activelyengaged in the city startup ecosystem. 

This yearCIE has launched a MedTech accelerator program through Biotechnology IndustryResearch Assistance Council (BIRAC) as well as a Tech4Social incubator fortechnology based social enterprises approved by NITI Aayog, AIM.

T-Hub, nowthe largest incubator in the country, was seeded within IIIT-Hyderabad, withCIE's experience and knowledge being the building blocks. The thoughtleadership at IIIT-Hyderabad defined T-Hub's objectives, processes and metrics. 

It’sdecennial celebrations includeda deeptech startup showcase of 30+ startupsincubated both at CIE and the Hyderabad startup ecosystem,and gave an overviewof its impact and CIE’s future plans.  A deep tech startup Hyderabaddirectory was also released as an ecosystem initiative by IIITH jointly withStartup Hyderabad (http://startuphyderabad.com/promising-deep-tech-start-ups-hyderabad

Inviteescomprised of a diverse community including researchers/faculty members,founders, practitioners, investors, CXOs, government officials and otherecosystem partners joined in the celebrations.These included JayeshRanjan, IT Secretary, Govt of Telangana; Big Basket Founder Abhinay Choudhari,RedBus Founder Phanindra Sama, BVR Mohan Reddy, Executive Chairman of Cyient; SriniRaju, MD, Peepul Capital Advistors Pvt Ltd among others.
