CII Excon 2017 to position India as a global hub for Construction Equipment Manufacturing

11th December, 2017: Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is organising Excon 2017 – South Asia’s largest construction equipment exhibition from 12th to 16th December, 2017 at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC), Bengaluru.

With a grossdisplay area of 2,50,000 sq.m., the 5-day international exhibition would have925 exhibitors including 275 companies from abroad. The event is expected toattract over 40,000 business visitors from across the globe.

Mr. AnantG Geete, Hon'ble Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Public SectorEnterprises, Government of India would be the Chief Guest at the Inaugural Session ofEXCON 2017 scheduled on 12th December 2017 at BIEC, Bengaluru.

Mr. R VDeshpande, Hon'ble Minister for Large & Medium Industries & InfrastructureDevelopment, Government of Karnataka and Mr. Amitabh Kant, CEO, Niti Aayog,Government of India will address at the inaugural session amongstother dignitaries.

In hisaddress at the press conference, Mr. Vipin Sondhi, Chairman, CII EXCON2017 said, “The Indian Construction Equipment Industry which peakedin 2011 went through a downcycle for four straight years from 2012 until 2015.This year as an industry, we will surpass our previous best year of 2011 with agrowth of 14%. The industry is headed for better days of a projected stablegrowth of 10% CAGR over the next 5 years compared to 7% in the previous decade.The government of India has made infrastructure creation a major pillar forsustained growth and announced a number of projects in roads, railways, metrorail, mining, irrigation, power and urban development which are growth driversfor our industry.

We areentering into the 9th edition of the EXCON, which has a 17 yearstrong legacy being organized since 2000.  With each passing edition, theEXCON has witnessed immense growth both in quality and participation. EXCON2017 has witnessed a 16 per cent growth in terms of number of exhibitorscompared with the 2015 edition.  The highlight of this edition is theenhanced participation of overseas companies from over 20 countries. There willalso be country pavilions including leading economies like Germany, Italy,China, South Korea & United Kingdom.”

As part ofEXCON, CII is organizing an Infrastructure Summit on 12th Decemberwhich will deliberate on the opportunities in infrastructure developmentthrough Public Private Partnership.  A CEOs Round Table Session is alsoorganised which would have the participation of leading global and Indian CEOsin the infrastructure and construction sectors.   A CII-ICEMA Reporton Indian Construction Equipment Industry will also release during theInaugural Session.

CII &ICEMA is organising a Conference on ‘Nextgen Infrastructure’ on 13th December2017 which would present the advancement of technology and integration of IT inbuilding world class infrastructure.

Excon 2017is aligned with the Indian Government’s ‘Make in India’ vision and has emergedas an imperative platform to bring together leading global and domesticconstruction equipment players to demonstrate their world-class technologicalprowess and capabilities. The event will also provide an opportunity forparticipants to network; discuss and debate on the opportunities and challengesin creating world class infrastructure

With theparticipation of almost all leading players in the construction equipmentindustry, the exhibition would aim at facilitating faster and sustainabledevelopment of infrastructure and related sectors in India.

TheGovernment of Karnataka is the Host State for Excon 2017. The IndianConstruction Equipment Manufacturers Association (ICEMA) is the Sector Partnerand supported by the Builders Association of India (BAI).
