'Food India by SIAL' Will Bring Technology & Investment in Food Processing in India
New Delhi, September 17, 2018 – 1st edition of 'Food India by SIAL'- Comexposium & Inter Ads Exhibitions' most comprehensive B2B show for the food and beverage industry, kick started to an enthusiastic response at Hall No. 12 & 12A of Pragati Maidan, New Delhi on 16th September.
The 3 day B2B Exhibition is powered by Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Govt. of India and was inaugurated by Honourable Minister, MOFPI, Smt. Harsimrat Kaur Badal.
The 1st Edition of 'Food India by SIAL' has over 150 Exhibitors from India and 13 other countries like Switzerland, France, UK, Russia, China, Indonesia, besides pavilions from Italy, Turkey & Korea.
At the inauguration, Smt. Harsimrat Kaur Badal said "SIAL in Paris and ANUGA in Germany are considered the biggest food shows in the world. I am very happy that SIAL has started 'Food India' in India now. This shows that the world has realised the opportunities that India presents in food processing. As the number of Food Shows increases, it will result in more modern technology and tie-ups of companies with our local farmers and producers which will result in greater opportunities and more employment for the youth as food processing is an employment generating sector. Despite one of the major food producing countries in the world, only 10% food gets processed and there is a lot of wastage."
She added that in India wastage happens in harvesting, transportation & storing-basically logistics. Western countries have mastered the technology to achieve zero wastage in logistics So when these companies come to India and collaborate with our processors under Make in India and bring their knowhow, machinery and technology, then the losses in our supply chain due to wastage because of shortage of infrastructure would be compressed. and a direct link between consumer, processor and farmer would be established. The MOFPI is working for the last 4 years to create a cold chain grid throughout the country for seamless transfer from production to consumption. Rs. 6,000 crores under 'Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana' would be given as subsidy for infrastructure creation which would leverage investments of around 31,000 Crores. She congratulated SIAL and hoped they would continue to partner to ensure that the food processing sector of India grows by leaps and bounds in times to come.
The minister visited various stalls and encouraged women entrepreneur to avail the various benefits and subsidies available for women. She also encouraged the Exhibitors to source raw materials from rural and tribal areas.
