Healthcare overview 2016
By Mr.Amol Naikawadi, JMD Indus Health Plus
“The year 2016 was beneficial for theoverall healthcare industry, barring the last few months due to demonetization.Though I feel the demonetization is welcome news, since digitalization ofcommodities and services is now at its optimum level, however the last fewmonths were difficult for any industry. I trust that this demonetization issuewill soon resolve from January.
Other than this, there were some successfulpolicies launched by the Government such as the New Health Protection Schemethat gives health cover up-to 1 lakh per family and the other which giveshealthcare cover of Rs. 30,000 to senior citizens. All these initiatives havehelped to boost the healthcare system in rural and urban India. With theincrease in technology adoption, expansion of hospitals, specialized clinics, etc. the preventive healthcare market has seen a sharp rise in tier II and IIIcities. The Government and industry’s focus was on health assurance and makinghealthcare affordable, available and accessible, this focus will stay on forfew more years.”
