IFIM Law School holds National Deal Negotiation and Mediation Competition “CONCORDAT 2019”
Bangalore, 11 September, 2019: Bangalore-based IFIM Law School, affiliated to the Karnataka State Law University (KSLU), and approved by the Bar Council of India, organised its first edition of “CONCORDAT 2019” -- a national-level negotiation and mediation competition. The competition aligned with the alternative dispute resolution concept where students learnt the art of dispute resolution.
The national-level event saw the participation of 16 teams, with 48 participants, and was judged by a sundry panel of judges consisting of International Arbitrators, General Counsel of Companies, Mediators, Advocates, Judges, Academicians and Associates from various law firms. The event also witnessed the presence of Hon’ble Justice P.S. Dinesh Kumar, Judge, High Court of Karnataka, Mr B.C. Thiruvengadam and the Managing Partner Thiru & Thiru, Hon’ble Justice H.B. Prabhakara Sastry, Judge, High Court of Karnataka and Mr Inbavijiyan Veeraraghavan, International Arbitrator and Mediator, Kove Global LLP.
Addressing the participants and students of IFIM Law School, Mr Inbavijiyan, International Arbitrator, said, “It’s a pleasure being part of an event which is aligned to IFIM’s aim to holistically develop their students through their alternative dispute resolution concept. This competition will help the law students leverage a platform to learn the process of dispute resolution which will gain in importance in future. With Mediation Law gaining momentum, this step marks an important milestone for law students as it helps them learn the concepts of the future.”
The competition focused on analysing the negotiation skills and assessing the mediation skills of the participants. This was done with an aim to leverage a platform for students to encounter two forms of dispute resolving mechanisms. JSS Mysuru emerged winners of the competition while Ms Jopsy from Kristu Jayanti College was awarded the Best Negotiator Award.
