IMTMA and Agastya International Foundation launch mobile science lab to ignite knowledge
Bengaluru, 25 July 2018: Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers’ Association (IMTMA) and Agastya International Foundation launched a Mobile Science Lab (MSL) at Bangalore International Exhibition Centre in Bengaluru. The Mobile Science Lab was inaugurated in the presence of L. Krishnan, Chairman, IMTMA Corporate Social Responsibility Committee, V. Anbu, Director General and CEO, IMTMA, and K. Thiagarajan, COO, Agastya International Foundation.
Speaking on the occasion, L. Krishnan said, “IMTMA is sponsoring this project as part of its corporate social responsibility initiative. Mobile science lab is an innovative step towards attaining mobility, sparking curiosity, nurturing creativity and building confidence among the children studying in rural schools. The mobile science lab will have various hands-on science models covering a range of subjects such as physics, chemistry and biology, besides conducting science fairs. This will raise awareness among children on the values of learning with a focus on science.”
Supporting Krishnan’s views, V. Anbu added, “IMTMA has always extended its support to local educational institutions as well as undertaken various skill building initiatives through its training programmes. Mobile science lab is an extended outreach programme to ignite knowledge among the young minds and enable them become innovators.”
Addressing delegates, Thiagarajan said, “The Mobile science lab will cater to multiple schools where trained instructors will conduct sessions for children related to their academic stream thus supplementing their education. Mobile science lab will have models and experiments that will offer a hands-on experience to children.”
The event concluded with the mobile science lab being flagged off by the dignitaries.
