LIBA signs MoU with National Institute of Securities Market (NISM)
Mumbai, 28th March, 2017: Loyola Institute of Business Administration (LIBA), Chennai and National Institute of Securities Market (NISM), an education initiative of Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) today announced their joint venture to design a programme with a specialised focus on Securities Market. This programme will not only focus on providing education for students and professionals but will also provide financial education and standards to improve financial literacy in the country. LIBA will offer this course from the next academic year (2018-19).
The jointventure will mark yet another milestone in the Industry-Academia collaborationto fulfil the growing demand for securities market in India. TheMemorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in the presence of Fr. P ChristieS.J, Director – LIBA and Mr.Sandip Ghose, Director, NISM, along with othersenior management representatives and academicians from NISM and LIBA.
Consideringthe increasing demand for securities market, NISM and LIBA have collaborated todesign a management course that specializes in this segment to bridge theexisting skill gap in the industry. This will be offered under full time andpart time (3 months, 6 months and 1 year) programmes, certificationprogrammes, workshop and faculty development programmes.
Fr. PChristie S.J, Director, LIBA, said, “It is a momentous event for LIBA to sign aMoU with NISM as an industry partner to offer programs in the area ofSecurities Market. With its expertise, NISM will be able to add value to thestudents of LIBA. LIBA is the first B-School in South India which isforging ahead in signing an agreement with NISM to offer Securities Market as aspecialization for the part-time and full-time PGDM students. We are extremelyhappy to note that LIBA with its focus on excellence and ethics has found arenowned industry partner, which espouses the same values”.
Commentingon signing the MoU, Mr. Sandip Ghose, Director, NISM said, “The field ofsecurities market is a confluence of related areas like economics, financialeconomics, accounting, reporting and much more. With the increasing demand forstock market, it is important to create awareness about stock exchange, mutualfund and increase the participation in the securities market. We stronglybelieve that this MoU with LIBA will help in promoting securities marketresearch and education.”
