Modak debuts at Venice Film Festival at a special dinner by chef Vikas Khanna
Mumbai 7th September, 2017: A late summer night’s dream, in a villa on the Venice Lido: a star chef of Indian cuisine, and a film that tells his story. Buried Seeds by Andrei Severny, a documentary on India’s most celebrated chef Vikas Khanna, gets a special preview screening at the prestigious Venice Film Festival on September 6 at the Villa of Giornate degli Autori.
“Thetrailer of the film was released at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this yearin May and had received a stupendous response. The documentary is atimeless story of passion, resilience, failure and rise and captures India andits glory whilst capturing Chef Vikas Khanna’s journey across India and laterin the US. The film will premiere in 2018”, shared Andrei Severny.
For thefirst time, subject of the documentary, Chef Vikas Khanna, alsocounted amongst the Top 10 Chefs in the world has been invited to host a lavishevening reception at the special screening of Burried Seeds onSeptember 6 at the Villa of Giornate degli Autori by Venice Days. Whilethe film is the celebration of the journey of an ordinary man, the dinner isthemed “Celebrating India”. Chef Vikas Khanna will showcaserichness and eclectic beauty of India and its culture at this prestigiousdinner celebrating 70 years of Indian Independence. His food will be symbolicof India’s culinary journey and boasts of specialties inclduing Lucknowi TundeyKebab and Bhupali Saffron Sheermal in the North to Kerala Duck Roast andPondicherry Crab cakes in the South. The traditional Modak of the West will begetting an interesting twist with coconut, pine nuts, maple syrup and candiedsugar stuffing.

Currently ChefVikas Khanna is working on two books - POEATRY, a book onpoetry from the heart of his kitchen & food andBLOSSOM, a book onblossoms of spices and their evolution. Both the books are expected to releasenext month. He has big plans to take the kids nutrition program to ahigher level and will begin work on it soon.
