Guwahati, 19 July, 2017:, the government of India’s citizen engagement platform under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India, has launched a unique two-month programme called the ‘NEW INDIA CHAMPIONSHIP’ with the aim to engage citizens of India to demonstrate their vision and become part of the process to build a New India. MyGov portal that was formally launched by the Honourable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi in July 2014, has till date over 42.5 lakh registered members and has received over 38 lakh entries in nearly 1500 discussions and contests.

As a citizenof India and as a part of the country, we have all grown up with ambitiousaspirations for a better India. Whether the aspiration to make it poverty freeor to make it more tech ready, we all have a dream for India. In line with thevision of our honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi of building a NewIndia, the championship is a platform that invites citizens to share theirdreams for the country and help the government translate the dreams intoreality. 

ShriGaurav Dwivedi, CEO, MyGov said, “To bring alive the vision of our honourable PM ShriNarendra Modi, we are all committed towards building a New India. A New India,which stands for development, where the dreams of our youth are achieved, whereaspirations of women are fulfilled, where immense opportunities are given tothe poor and needy. It's an India where digitisation will lead to faster andmore efficient working in every sphere. We want to build an India that is a farcry from its slow and inefficient past.

A grandvision like this requires help, co-operation and active participation fromevery citizen. Our e-governance portal has created this unique championshipwhere we aim to engage the citizens of India to demonstrate how they would liketo contribute to build a ‘New India’.”

Thechampionship will see participants engaging and contributing in different waysthat are aligned to the national goals and campaigns of the Government. Theseinclude the Swachh Bharat Mission, International Yoga Day, Shramev Jayate,Incredible India, Skill India, Digital India etc . 

TheChampionship also marks three years of MyGov in2017. For every activity, participants will earn points to scale them up theLeaderboard. Points will only be credited to the person's profile once hisentry for the activity are verified and approved by Team MyGov. TheChampionship is open to all citizens of India, Non-Resident Indians andOverseas Indians.
