Bangalore, April 24, 2017: As a part of World Dance Day celebrations, Sanjali Centre for Odissi Dance will present ‘Grisma Geetam’- a poetic description of the season of summer based on Kalidasa’s ‘Ritusamhara’ on Friday, 28th April at Seva Sadan, Malleshwaram at 6.30 PM. Choreographed and conceptualized by noted Odissi danseuse Sharmila Mukerjee, ‘Grisma Geetam’ brings out the bright, vibrant and the colorful flavours of the summer season.

The production portrays the essence of summer and itsimpression on human beings and animals. Summer is that time of the year whenthe sun is fully ablaze and fierce.  The dry weather and the searing heatis uneasy and intolerable.  It’s dusty, humid and sultry. In spite of theunrelenting heat, summer brings with it cool moonlit evenings that can be quiteenjoyable. The world is painted in beautiful hues of orange and red emanatingfrom the rays of the sun. Despite the merciless heat and lethargy, summer isthe time when strange friendships flourish between animals. It’s the time when womendab themselves with cool sandalwood paste and fragrant cosmetics on theirdisheveled hair. It’s a chance for men and women to enjoy music and dance onmoonlit terraces.
