Suresh Chukkapalli, appointed as the Honorary Consul General of the Republic of Korea,
Hyderabad, October 31, 2017: Hyderabad based businessman, 55 years old, Chairman of Phoenix Group, is conferred an honor by the Republic of Korea by appointing him as the Honorary Consul General in Hyderabad with consular jurisdiction over the state of Telangana. The Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, notified the same in Gazette Notification dated October 25. Suresh Chukkapalli will be given charge/invested formally on November 1 in a ceremony in New Delhi.
Mr. SureshChukkapalli comes from a distinguished family of entrepreneurs and is wellreputed for his business acumen, dynamism and his commitment towards businesssocial responsibility. With a diverse background and many achievements, he isone of the most noteworthy names in Real estate and Infrastructure Industry inthe state. In addition to his current fulltime position as Chairman of PhoenixGroup, he has held several other positions such as Former Director and FounderPromoter of Lanco Group of Companies, former Member of Central Board of FilmCertification and several advisory committees, member of several industrial andtrade bodies---FAPCI, FICCI, ASSOCHAM, CEO Club etc. He is known as‘true real estate son of the soil’ for the qualitative differences he broughtin the industry. He is highly regarded for his philanthropic activities andexceptional ideas such as “Mahaprasthanam”- A modern crematorium and “PhoenixArena,” a center for the performing Arts, a cultural landmark venue in thecity. His determination,mettle and high caliber has been recognized by the Government of Korea toconfer this honor upon him.

Commenting on thehonor conferred upon him, Suresh Chukkapalli said the honor is bestowed at atime when Koreans are trying to improve their presence in the state ofTelangana. Companies such as LG, SAMSUNG, and Hyundai, are household names hereand many other automobile companies are planning to establish in India. Myresponsibility would be to foster the bond between both the nations and worktowards strengthening the bilateral business and trade relations with emphasison Telangana. Our focus will be on bringing Korean companies to Telangana,enabling Technology transfers, and exchange of youth, sports and cultureprograms.
In the recent past,many of the Korean companies visited Hyderabad and could assess the potentialof the region and are willing to set up their units here in collaboration withthe local units. Most of them are SMEs, he added.. The HonoraryConsulate General office in Hyderabad will open soon to extend support todeveloping trade relations and exchange of culture with Korea, SureshChukkapalli informed.
