Tata Power-DDL conducts Extensive Safety Awareness Drive Ahead of the Festive Season

Ahead of the festive season, Tata Power-DDL has undertaken a major safety drive in its area of operation. The company is inspecting all Precast Cement Concrete (PCC) Poles, Street Light Poles, Stay Wires , Towers, Rail Poles, Fencing, Substation, Feeder & Service pillars, PWD & MCD Poles, ATMs and Lights Installed in Parks for any leakage points to avoid any mishap.

Gearing up for the festivities of Durga Puja and Diwali, the company has inspected more than 65000 poles and leakage points as a precautionary measure for consumers’ safety.  

In the recent past Safety Awareness Drives were also conducted for safe kite flying wherein consumers were  sensitized about the harmful impact of metal coated Chinese manjha.  The metal-coated manjha is a good conductor of electricity and when it comes in contact with the power lines it causes electrocution and leads to tripping, impacting thousands of consumers.  In addition to it,  more than 10,000 Nos. of leaflets were distributed to the general public, children, shopkeepers, and consumers of Tata Power-DDL informing them about the potential hazards of careless attitude with the power safety and also encouraging them to avoid selling/using of the metallic manjha. Further, Public Safety Video has been screened at 59 locations of Tata Power-DDL area through Mobile Audio/Visual van covering hundreds of people on general public safety related issues due to Encroachment near power lines and safety tips were also shared.

The company is also sensitizing thousands of School Children during zero periods in schools on electrical safety through its Club Enerji initiative. A total of 161 nos. of schools have been covered educating more than 59606 nos. of students in North Delhi.

 Commenting on the initiative, Mr. Sanjay Banga, CEO, Tata Power-DDL said “As a responsible power distribution company, we take care of the safety measures required for an uninterrupted power supply and also reach out to consumers and public at large for mass awareness on electrical safety. Our sensitization drive involving rigorous inspections and raising public awareness through leaflets and audio-visual medium is to ensure that our consumers are safe and receive continuous power supply from our end. This initiative is a step envisioning consumer safety during the coming festivities.”

During this course of the upcoming festive season, Tata Power-DDL’s Operational Team & Volunteers are engaging in a constant vigil across Tata Power-DDL distribution area. In the second phase of the drive,  general public will be advised to take precaution at their ends by purchasing only ISI marked electrical equipment, incorporating ISI marked MCB in the electrical meter, changing faulty wire lines, incorporating earth leakage circuit breaker and avoiding water contact with electrical wires and other equipment. The company also advises its consumers to employ well-trained electricians and during any construction avoid proximity of the electrical poles and high voltage power cables.
