Telangana State’s first National Level combined event “Go-Karting and E-Bike Championships”
Bus Shelters must be turned into mini airports if the government wants car users to go for public transport. Prakash Kalbag, Automobile expert and Executive Director of MG Group, who is going to submit a pilot proposal to Govt of Telangana to allow his, team, to construct Air Conditioned Bus Shelters which look like mini airports in IT Corridors, to begin with on an experimental basis to encourage car users to use public transport.

Hyderabad, March13, 2018.Telangana’s first Indian Pro-Kart Endurance Championship (IPEC 2018)and AsianE-Bike Challenge kicked off here at B.V.Raju Institute of Technology(BVRIT),near Hyderabad at Narsapur on Tuesday.
Departmentof Mechanical Engineering of BVRIT is organizing a National level Go-KartRacing Event from 13th to 16th March 2018. An event like this is veryrare, and it is being organized for the first time the state of Telangana.
This is thefirst time a combined event is organized Go-Karting and E-Bike in the state, inwhich more than 1000 students and 50 teams from across India areparticipating.
The first ofits kind of event is being organized in collaboration with “Imagine toInnovate.”
Imagine ToInnovate Asia E-bike Challenge is an eco-friendly venture based uponEngineering design and manufacturing of Electric bike completely by thestudents.
Theevent is being organised on the eve of BVRIT’s Bi-Decennial celebrations withthe goal to design, build and race off Go-Kart vehicles. Our motto is topromote Motorsport as a profession in India, to encourage the students who havepassion, creativity, innovation and practical approach based technical skill inthe field of Automobile Engineering informed KV. Vishnu Raju, Chairman of SriVishnu Educational Society.
Dr. Rao M.Chalasani, MD of Deccan Auto Ltd; Prakash Kalbag, Executive Director of MGGroup; KV Vishnu Raju, Educationist, Chairman of Sri Vishnu Educational Societygraced the inaugural function and lighted the lamp and marked the inaugurationby releasing balloons into the sky.
The eventconsists of two phases of selection-01. The virtual round and 2. Dynamicround. In the first phase, the registered students had to submittheir design report for which screening has lead to the second phase namelyDynamic Round.
The dynamicround is for four days. After the inauguration on the day one, thetwo rounds of technical inspection held. On the second-day, brake test andacceleration test will be held. And on the third-day auto cross and skid padtest will be held. On the final day, endurance test will take place.
The mainmotto of the event is to promote motor sport as a profession in India toencourage the students who have passion, creativity, and innovation in thefield of automobile engineering, announced Prof. Dr.V. Murali Krishna.
Addressingthe gathering KV Vishnu Raju, Educationist, Chairman of Sri Vishnu EducationalSociety said Telangana State is slowly but steadily emerging as AutomobileHub. A lot of Automobile industries are eyeingTelangana. Mechanical Engineering stream has bright future.
Events likeIPEC are very important. BVRIT has been working on this event forthe past one year. Today Textbook knowledge is not sufficient to besuccessful in the career. Events like IPEC are game changers in equippingstudent’s practical, hands down knowledge and experience, he said.
AutomobileExpert, Former Senior Executive General Motors and MD of Deccan Auto Ltd Dr.Rao M. Chalasani, who was the chief guest while addressing the gathering said, more girls are opting Mechanical Engineering. Girls are working in Assemblyline of Ford, he said.
Bajaj Autorecently rolled out the first batch of their much awaited super premium 400 ccbike from the Chakan plant
These firstbatch of powerful bikes were rolled out by an all-women engineer assembly line,Dr. Rao informed
Hands-onlearning is the best learning. I hear I forget, I see, Iremember. I do, I understand, and I involved, I learn a lot, he said. Learn bydoing is the best thing he said.
Replying toa media query, he said, though the government is talking a lot about electronicvehicles, buses, cars, it is a long way to go to change Indian mindset. Infrastructural changes will be a big challenge to introduceelectronic or battery run vehicles, he opined.
Another automobile expert Prakash Kalbag, Executive Director of MG Group, whowas guest of honor told the biggest gathering of Mechanical Engineers under oneroof told that Hyderabad traffic becoming mad. So you need to designa system to reduce the number of vehicles coming on to the roads.
Speakingfurther, he elaborated that the new fad with government officials is batteryrun or e-buses or electronic vehicles. Which are not going to do any good tothe society. We need to reduce the vehicular population. To dothat we need modern bus shelters to encourage car users to go for publictransport. Bus Shelters must be turned into mini airports, ifthe government want car users to convert into public transport users informedPrakash Kalbag. Chinese use few cars. Indians use a lot of privatevehicles, he added.
Further, headded that his team was working on a proposal for a pilot project on the sameto be submitted to K. Chandrasekhar Rao, Chief Minister of Telangana for theirconsideration. His idea is to construct Air Conditioned BusShelters, which should be like mini airports. These he suggestedmust be started on a pilot basis in IT Areas to begin with on an experimentalbasis. So that we can encourage more people to use public transport, he said. Many countries have done this, and we too must explore seriously, he informed.
38 colleges,1000 students from across India are participating informed DR. V. MuraliKrishna, Organising Secretary of IPEC 2018.
Theobjective of the event according to Dr. V. Murali Krishna was to give themhands down experience to the students. Who will gain much need practicalexperience he added.
The eventwill be held for four days and will conclude on 16th with the EnduranceChampionship.
The main aimof E-Bike Championship is to generate the interest of the student inthe field of eco-bikes and to bring a new revolution in the field of bikingwhich can be commercialized as a usable product for the future generation.
This willhelp them face real-world engineering design projects and other relatedchallenges. The focus is to develop interest among the engineering studenttowards alternative power sources, those which are the future of Automobiles. This can enhance their practical skills as well as learn team management, soour engineering student will avail to face any hurdles in the way of realengineering. Engineering students will get an opportunity to not only designcomponents using the theory that they have learned, but also to fabricateindividual car components and test their performance against theoreticalpredictions.
The AsiaE-Bike challenge is also a team building opportunity, allowing students to getto know each other better and to find out how different people work andapproach problem-solving. Asia Ebike challenge is giving an opportunity to doresearch and innovation on the hybrid vehicle as top automobile industries areworking on the Eco-friendly technology.
