THE LABEL RITU KUMAR UNVEILED A FASHIONABLE ‘SWEET SURRENDER’ LINE AT LAKMÉ FASHION WEEK
There is always a heightened level of excitement before a show by The Label Ritu Kumar because the brand is known to present a captivating fashion story on the ramp. ‘Sweet Surrender’ was The Label Ritu Kumar’s title at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2017. The inspiration moved back centuries into the past and halted at the 18th century French Marquis fashion era. Here The Label Ritu Kumar also added a deliberate dishabille look of the 80’s to bring about an apotheosis of the two eras where modern fashion and refinements were concerned.
The colour card started with soft pastel hues and was contrasted withtropical prints like unconventional fruits and striking bold blossoms. Sorbettones of peach and Prosecco appeared in perfect unison with canary yellow, aswell as minty melons, which were then surprisingly interspersed with vibrantsplashes of calico blue and red. Added to the flavour of the collection werethe embellished textiles that brought the style quotient to the forefront.
Opening the show with a riot of floral printed cotton dresses andromper-corset the stage was set for wrap, will-power, printed, dress; ballerinatulle midi skirts over body suits, halter printed trapeze mini and anassortment of off-shoulder gypsy style blouses. Broderie anglais appeared forskirts or tiered midis, while the striped, tiered, layered, floor-kissingcreations and the black net, frilled, tiered, mini skirt added to the lyricalflow of the show.
Presenting a further melodious fashion symphony, The Label Ritu Kumarbrought on the ramp an asymmetric cold-shoulder midi with summer blossomsprint, mini trapeze outfit, slinky blue leaf printed off-shoulder creation withside cascade and a sexy pale blue tulle full-flared midi skirt over aprovocative white body suit. The mustard frilled one-shoulder midi with astriking white crochet cummerbund, the black ruffled will-power jumpsuit withwhite corset and the black/white foliage printed maxi were just perfect forsurrendering to fashion’s latest trends.
The Label Ritu Kumar’s statement shirtdresses were prominent on the rampalong with stylish asymmetric tops, some with an off-shoulder accent, while thecute trendy minis completed the look.
Giving life to the collection was the every apt selection of chambray,schiffly and tulle, which were used as frills and ruffles to project anultra-glam, feminine look.
Mesh stockings and the crochet cummerbunds were the prime accessories,which added to the gentle romantic mood of the show.
To highlight the collection was the very stylish hairdos – a side swept cascadeof curls over a chignon and bright red lips - all created by Lakmé Makeupexpert Donald Simrock.
Disha Patani, the exciting new Bollywood star looked gorgeous as shestopped the show in white shorts under a sheer, white, corset, asymmetric,will-power creation that shimmered with splashes of rose embroidery.
Next season many women will readily rush for ‘Sweet Surrender’ by TheLabel Ritu Kumar when it comes to giving in to their fashionable desires.
