Tourism Minister Launches 'Ayurbodha' at World Travel Mart, London
Thiruvananthapuram, November 28th: Mr. Kadakampally Surendran, Minister for Tourism, Kerala has launched 'Ayurbodha' a unique tourism product at the World Travel Mart in London. The newest offering from Kerala Tourism Development Corporation is aimed at blending tourism and the knowledge of Ayurveda. Under the initiative, the traveller can stay at any of the KTDC resorts located in Kerala and learn about the ancient medicinal stream of Ayurveda. The focus will be on basic home remedies and diet regimes, Ayurvedic practices for the rejuvenation of the body and soul, secrets of pressure points, basics of 'Panchakarma' treatment and the history and use of medicinal plants.
"Ayurveda, as awellness system and a mainstream tourism product, has been largely confined totreatments and massages. While Kerala is known as a destination for enjoyingserene and peaceful holidays, our time-tested tradition of Ayurveda can enrichevery visitor's experience," said Mr. Kadakampally Surendran, Minister for Tourism, Kerala. "Itis a unique experiential tourism initiative that has enormous potential toincrease footfalls in God's Own Country. It unfolds new vistas of Ayurveda asan enticing tourism offering and will surely appeal to the visitors from bothIndia and abroad," said Dr.Venu V. IAS, Principal Secretary, Kerala Tourism.
The 15-day Ayurbodhapackage has been priced at 100 dollars a day per person and includesaccommodation and a complimentary breakfast as well. The location can be chosenaccording to one's preference and a certificate for gaining knowledge ofAyurveda is also given. The launch was attended by Dr. Venu V. IAS, Mr. BalaKiran IAS, Director, Kerala Tourism, Mr. R. Rahul, Managing Director, KTDC, andindustry buyers from various countries, among others.
