Yash Aradhya makes an impressive debut in the Formula LGB Swift
Bengaluru, May 3, 2017: Yash Aradhya, the 14-year-old child prodigy from Bangalore, studying in class 9 of Bishop Cotton Boys’ School and a multiple National Go Karting Champion who represented India in CIK FIA Academy Trophy across Europe now graduates from Go Karting to Formula LGB Swift by debuting in the recently held MMS Formula Junior Series at Coimbatore.
The MMS Formula Junior Series kicked off on29th and 30th April consisting of 5 races in Round-1, Yashhad a great start as he qualified on the pole and in race-1 he drove well todominate and win the Race-1. Race-2 was a reverse grid and Yash started 4thin the grid and finished 2nd. In the Race-3, Yash finished 7thdue to a Racing incident and in Race-4 & 5 Yash had to be contentedwith 5th finish. With the total of these 5 races, Yash secured 71points in championship and titled second runner-up for Race-1 and with next setof 5 races in Round-2 scheduled on 27th & 28th May,Yash looks forward with confidence for a better finish.
Speaking on this occasion, Yash said, “Thecar is big and powerful when compared to the Go Karts. These wins havedefinitely boosted confidence in me, but I have a lot to learn and will workhard.”
The FormulaLGB Swift is a single seater, open wheel class in Indialaunched in 2003. The cars are powered by 1.3 liter Maruti Esteem engines.This car can be considered as an Indian equivalent of Europe’s Formula Fordseries, where it is void of aerodynamic aids like wings. From 2006 this carreplaced Formula Maruti as an entry-level formula car. This series offers thefirst feel and insights into open wheel racing for an upcoming race driver.
The race was conceived and promoted byformer F3 champion Akbar Ebrahim's Meco MotorSports to be a bridge betweenKarting and Formula Racing, the FJRS allows drivers to use inexpensivemechanical components from ordinary automobiles.
