Guwahati, Assam: The Assam Governor, Gulab Chand Kataria, inaugurated the first free artificial limb measurement camp organized by Narayan Seva Sansthan for differently-abled individuals in Guwahati. The camp, held on May 12th, 2024, aimed to empower people with disabilities and support their integration into society.

Governor Kataria commended Narayan Seva Sansthan for its dedication to helping the disabled and pledged the Raj Bhavan’s support for expanding their services in the Northeast. Over 1000 individuals with disabilities and representatives from local organizations participated in the event.

Key Highlights of the Camp:

  • Governor Kataria distributed 11 wheelchairs and interacted with beneficiaries of artificial limbs.
  • Sansthan Director Vandana Agarwal provided details about their various services, including free artificial limbs, surgeries, meals, education, vocational training, and support for marriages.
  • A 20-member team from Sansthan measured over 200 individuals for prosthetics and calipers. Over 130 patients were selected for free corrective surgeries in Udaipur.
  • Patients from neighboring states like Nagaland, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, and Mizoram also attended the camp.
  • Sansthan provided free food, tea, and snacks to all attendees.
  • The camp organizers acknowledged the support of various volunteer organizations.
