Bengaluru/Kengeri, June 01, 2022: Today, BGS Gleneagles Global Hospital relaunched their Advanced Emergency & Trauma Center. Sri Sri Sri Dr Nirmalanandanatha Maha Swamiji, President, Adichunchanagiri Mahasamsthana Mutt, Nagamangala, inaugurated the Advanced Emergency & Trauma Center and acknowledged the significant role that the hospital plays in effectively managing critical emergency cases that occur in both rural and urban Bangalore. Sri Sri Dr Prakashnath Swamiji, Managing Director, BGS & SJB Group of institutions, Bengaluru, graced the occasion.
The ER demonstrates a complete infrastructural transformation, that has been achieved in terms of medical equipment, increase in bed capacity and isolation rooms, in compliance with the latest COVID guidelines. The trauma centre is one of the largest in the city and surpasses international standards. The advanced trauma team has been further strengthened with the addition of specialists, senior doctors, ER trained nurses adept at handling polytrauma cases. The ER and Polytrauma team are a 120+ strong team that is structured to handle large scale emergencies of up to 200 patients at a time in coordination with the hospital’s sister concern – BGS Global Institute of Medical Sciences.

Given its location, the hospital receives a range of emergency cases from both rural and urban areas of Bangalore. The trauma centre is uniquely positioned to handle emergency cases ranging from accidents at home, like falls, stroke, heart attacks; rural emergency cases like insecticide poisoning and snake bites; industrial accidents like limb injuries or chemical injuries and road traffic accidents which is a common occurrence given the hospital’s proximity to arterial roads and highways.
Prof Tamorish Kole, Immediate Past President of Asian Society for Emergency Medicine & Visiting Professor, University of South Wales (UK) added, “Any tragedy can be taken to either success or failure within the first (Platinum) 10 minutes of medical attention. Hence, it is critical to make quick decisions regarding the definitive emergency and trauma care that should be provided to the patient on arrival. A multi-disciplinary team that is trained in trauma will have the ability to anticipate the specific problems associated with a patient with multiple injuries. With these critical upgrades, the hospital will function as an acute emergency and trauma centre that will prioritise the patient while eliminating bottlenecks that usually puts a kink in treatment protocol. Over the course of a few years, we would be able to study this hospital as a model for centre of excellence in trauma and emergency care.”
