Billiard Wizard Pankaj Advani Inaugurates Sports Day at TCIS

Bengaluru, India – February 5, 2024 – The annual sports day at The Cambridge International School Whitefield Campus (TCIS Whitefield) for Foundational Years (Pre Primary to Grade 2) was inaugurated by 27-times International Billiards Champion and Arjuna Awardee Padma Bhushan Pankaj Advani. In his address, Pankaj Advani appreciated the efforts by TCIS in giving equal importance to academics and co-curricular activities, thereby creating a holistic development environment for the children. He said that the new-age parents are recognizing the role of co-curricular involvements like sports in moulding children towards academic and holistic improvements. He was impressed by the special efforts made by TCIS in supporting children's sport-appetite, by providing world-class facilities, quality coaching and right encouragement to nurture young talent. He hope that such initiatives made by progressive schools like TCIS shall act as a beacon for all schools to follow. He said “Sports teaches more than winning and losing. The life-lessons sports give to a child is invaluable and is something which supplements academics excellence. More than just trophies and competition, sports ignite a passion within us. While striving to win and improve is important, remember why we play in the first place: the pure joy of the game itself. Yes, the thrill of victory and the sting of defeat are part of the experience, but it's how we handle them that defines us. l have always been told by my mother be humble in victory and gracious in defeat”. “Sports transcend barriers, uniting people across cultures and backgrounds. The day began with a march-past by different school houses, followed by a variety of track and field events, fun-filled games and cultural performances by young talents. There has been a large turn-out of parents and students to witness the event and to encourage the young participants with enthusiasm. School principal Dibha Samal addressed the gathering, highlighting the importance of sportsmanship, teamwork, and perseverance. She mentioned the exceptional achievements of TCIS students who have excelled in sports during 2023-24 including Aadya Gowda of Grade-5 winning for India in Asian Chess Championships at Kyrgyztan and Dubai, Ayanthika Arkar of Preprimary winning Youngest Skater Award in National Skating Championship, Avni Ganapathi of Grade 3 representing in National Gymnastics Championship, Achintya Saraogi of Grade 3 winning in National Karate Championship (Seki Goju style) to name a few. The vice chairman of TCIS Group, Saahil Ahmed, wished well for students and teachers for the event and emphasised that sports promote democratic and social skills of children. He offered his continuing support in talent enhancement of the children even while upholding TCIS’ uncompromising position of academic excellence. The event concluded with prize winner’s ceremony, where the victors of the various events were felicitated by Pankaj Advani and other dignitaries.
