Karnataka’s First BS Narayan CoE in AI & ML at BMSCE to be inaugurated on same day
Bengaluru, September 22, 2022: BMS Educational Trust is managing BMS College of Engineering (BMCSE) and BMS Institute of Technology and Management (BMSIT&M). BMSCE being one of the highest-ranking Engineering colleges in Karnataka is set to announce the launch of its Department of Machine Learning and BMSET today announced the setting up of Karnataka’s first BS Narayan Centre of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. The centre will be inaugurated on September 30, 2022, in the BMSCE campus. The said facilities will be inaugurated in the presence of the Chief guest – Dr. Devesh Vatsa, Air Vice Marshal, Awardee of Vishishta SEVA Medal, Commandant, Software Development Institute, Indian Air Force, Bengaluru, Guest of Honor – Prof. (Dr.) S Sadagopan, Former Director, IIIT Bengaluru & Prof. (Dr.) P K Das, Professor, IIT Guwahati along with dignitaries including Dr. B S Ragini Narayan, Donor Trustee & Member Secretary, BMS Educational Trust, Dr. P Dayananda Pai, Chairman, BMSCE & Life Trustee, BMS Educational Trust, Sri Aviram Sharma, Chairman, BMSIT&M and Trustee, BMSET, Sri Gautham V Kalathur, Chief Technical Officer, BMSET, Dr. S Muralidhara, Principal, BMSCE, Dr. Mohan Babu G N, Principal, BMSIT&M, Dr. Suresh Ramaswwamyreddy, Vice – Principal (Admin), BMSCE, Dr. Bheemsha Arya, Vice – Principal (Academic), BMSCE, Dr. Gowrishankar, Professor & Head, Dept. of Machine Learning, BMSCE, and Dr. Bharathi Malakreddy A, Professor & Head, Dept. of AI&ML, BMSIT&M.
The Department of Machine Learning, BMSCE poised to be the youngest branch in the 75+ years old Engineering college, will focus on teaching and research in the domains of Deep Learning, Data Mining, Big Data and Natural Language Processing. Additionally, the B S Narayan Center of Excellence (CoE) in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning established jointly by BMSCE and BMSIT&M will foster dynamic industry-academic synergy for AI adoption, impactful projects with industry & government and will have an independent NVIDIA DGX A100 Server – the first in any engineering college in Karnataka. The Department of Machine Learning, BMSCE will also launch the Dept. Students’ Club & ACM Students’ Chapter, an initiative to unite the computing fraternity of BMSCE under one platform.
Announcing the establishment of the Department and CoE on AI and ML, Dr. S Muralidhara, Principal, BMSCE said, “Today, we thrive on data and data-driven decisions. With the Department of Machine Learning and a Centre of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, we have taken the right step to build a community that will be theoretically taught Machine Learning and the hands-on experience of using the digital data for future applications.
