Bengaluru October 8 2025: A 70-Year-Old home maker suffering from Severe Heart Disease treated successfully Using India’s First Make in India Mitral Clip in Karnataka States.
A 70-year-old home maker, who had been struggling with severe breathlessness, swollen feet, and inability to perform daily activities for the past two years, has been successfully treated with India’s first Make in India Mitral Clip device (MyClip) in the Karnataka states.
The patient was diagnosed with Severe Mitral Regurgitation (MR)—a condition in which blood leaks backward from the heart’s lower chamber into the upper chamber instead of being pumped out to the body. Over time, this worsened her symptoms and made walking or routine activities almost impossible. In addition to this she had reduced pumping capacity of the heart.
The transcatheter MyClip procedure was performed by Dr. Kishore K S, leading interventional cardiologist. The procedure was non-surgical, minimally invasive, and highly effective. The minimally invasive procedure, performed through a small puncture in the thigh, took about an hour. The patient was shifted to ICU, recovered within a day and was discharged soon after. Post- procedure, the patient’s breathlessness reduced significantly, and she is now able to walk, exercise, and carry out her daily routine comfortably.
Speaking about the case, Dr. Kishore K S said: “Patients with severe mitral regurgitation are often at high surgical risk due to age, hypertension, diabetes, obesity, frailty, or co-existing kidney, lung and liver problems. If untreated, MR has devastating outcomes—more than 50% may not survive, and one-year mortality can be as high as 57%. For such patients, this non-surgical MyClip procedure offers a life-saving alternative.”
