Bangalore, India – March 12, 2025 – Canadian International School (CIS) teachers Misti Mokros and Nicholas McGregor achieved remarkable victories at the recent Bergman Olympic Triathlon in Mysore, securing first place in their respective 41-50 age group categories.

Organized by Deccan Sports Club (DSC), a leading non-profit dedicated to promoting endurance sports, the Bergman Triathlon is a prestigious event. Mokros and McGregor triumphed in the Olympic distance category, which includes a 1,500-meter swim, 40-kilometer bike ride, and 10-kilometer run.

“The course was challenging, with demanding terrain and climate, but we were determined to give it our all,” said Mokros and McGregor.

Their journey into endurance sports began in 2023 when the CIS community introduced them to the IRONMAN challenge in Goa. Despite having no prior experience in long-distance triathlons, they formed a CIS team and participated successfully.

“We weren’t in peak physical condition when we arrived in India two years ago,” McGregor explained. “The vibrant endurance sports scene here motivated us to push our limits.”

Since then, they have actively participated in various triathlons and endurance races across India, including Devil’s Circuit, Yoddha, and Spartan races, fostering a culture of fitness within the CIS community.

“We’ve seen more CIS parents and children joining us in training,” Mokros shared. “It’s become a family and community endeavor, which is incredibly motivating.”

Their dedication has extended to the school, where they established a thriving track team, now boasting nearly 60 athletes.

“At CIS, we emphasize nurture, challenge, and empower,” said Shweta Sastri, Managing Director, CIS. “Misti and Nicholas exemplify these values, serving as inspiring role models for our students. Their dedication and resilience are truly commendable.”

Mokros and McGregor emphasize the importance of hard work and perseverance. “Success doesn’t come overnight. It requires consistent training, overcoming challenges, and pushing through,” they stated. “We want our students to understand that hard work pays off in all aspects of life.”

Their achievements serve as a powerful testament to the impact of discipline and resilience. They continue to inspire the CIS community to embrace an active and determined lifestyle as they prepare for future races.
