One of UK’s oldest paint manufacturers opens its first outlet in Ispahani Centre, Nungambakkam
Chennai, India, 20th January, 2022: Craig & Rose, a Scottish paint company which has been making luxury lifestyle paints in the UK since 1829 today has opened its first-ever experience centre in India. The store was unveiled today by Mr Mark Titus, Director of Marketing, Nippon Paint (Decorative) India and Ar. CR Raju, Principal Architect of CR Raju Architects and National President of Indian Institute of Architects (IIA) in Ispahani Centre, Nungambakkam.
Architects, Interior designers and direct customers can experience and order the Craig & Rose Vintage 1829 collection and the Artisan collection at the store. The 1829 collection is formed of 110 colours carefully selected from the Craig and Rose archives and are available in three finishes – Chalky Emulsion, Eggshell and Gloss. These finishes are durable, washable and deliver excellent coverage. On the other hand, the Artisan range is a speciality collection of decorative paints and finishes to create bold, beautiful and bespoke effects in homes. It is ideal for ornaments, furniture, or walls.
The store has been designed by The ZARC, an architecture & interior designer firm based out of Chennai. The store’s interiors hold onto Scottish architectural design’s authentic roots while sprinkling several modern elements to hoist customer experience. In fact the entire store has been painted and customised with colours from the Craig and Rose Vintage 1829 collection, including the Craig and Rose blue and Artisan finishes to enhance the paint buying experience for their elite customers, architects and designers. For a better understanding and easy comparison of touch and feel of various finishes in the same colour; chalky emulsion, gloss, and eggshell finishes have been integrated into a single pyramid display at the store.
Overall, the store has been designed to retain the key design aspects of the Craig and Rose flagship store in UK. The entire store has been majorly painted with the Jet black shade from the ‘1829 collection’ in order to ameliorate the colours. Lastly, to leave a trace of flamboyance, an array of shades from Craig & Rose’s 1829 vintage colour palette were integrated in the key piece, which was the central art installation consisting of cubes in numerous sizes.
Speaking about the launch of the first-ever Craig & Rose store, Mr Mark Titus, Director of Marketing, Nippon Paint (Decorative) India, said, “Craig and Rose is a legacy paint brand that is known for manufacturing superior quality paints since 1829.
