Bangalore 16th September 2022… The Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI) conferred the prestigious ‘Bharat Ratna’ Sir M Visvesvaraya Award on Dr. M R Jaishankar, Chairman and Managing Director, Brigade Enterprises Limited. The honour was bestowed on him on the occasion of FKCCI’s Founders’ Day 2022, in the presence of Shri. Basavaraj S Bommai, the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Karnataka in the presence of Dr. Murugesh R Nirani, Minister for Large and Medium-scale Industries, Govt of Karnataka, Dr. C A I.S. Prasad, President FKCCI, and other office bearers of FKCCI. Mr. Jaishankar was recognised for his outstanding achievement and contribution in construction, building activity, as well as in the field of education, health community development, social and philanthropic work.
“Sir M Visvesvaraya lived a life of achievement, he was a great visionary, statesman and a social reformer all embodied in a single personality which is very rare and he is alive today through his works. He has taught us to adapt to change and be the change. Shri Jaishankar is also a great achiever and if I were to describe him in one sentence it would be: he has built homes, a place where we feel safe and comfortable and not buildings and houses. The secret of his success is that he too has adapted to change. Thousands of jobs have been created because of Brigade Group. Sir. M Visvesvaraya Award was instituted by FKCCI in 1999 to commemorate the Birthday of its illustrious Founder. Each year, the award is presented to a distinguished personality who has made significant contributions to the socio-economic development of the State of Karnataka and Kannadigas.
