Failing to obtain Indian citizenship 334 Pakistani Hindus Returns to Pakistan - thisweekindia

In the past 18 months over 1,500 Pakistani Hindu refugees have returned to Pakistan. Citing stringent government regulations for granting Indian citizenship. According to the reports published in the Times of India, 334 Hindu refugees have headed back to Pakistan between January and July 2022.

These Hindus, who moved to India, due to the atrocities faced by them in Pakistan are disappointed. According to data published in November 2021 over 1,000 Christian and Hindu women are forced to convert to Islam every year. From 2004-05, camps were organised by the Indian government to provide citizenship and over 13,000 Pakistani Hindus obtained Indian citizenship.

If the reports are to be believed, over 25,000 Pakistani Hindus are waiting for Indian citizenship. The journey to return isn’t easy for these refugees with the Pakistan Embassy increasing the fee for renewal of a passport.
