Bengaluru 27th May 2024. FootSecure, a podiatry platform, conducted a 3K walkathon on diabetic foot awareness on May 26th in Bengaluru. The walkathon was held in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) to raise awareness about the importance of podiatric care for diabetic patients.
A two-day conference, PODOCON – Biomechanics of Diabetic Foot, was also organized by FootSecure and IISc. The conference covered topics such as wound care, regenerative medicine, and the management of Charcot Foot. Dr. Sanjay Sharma, founder of FootSecure, emphasized the importance of early intervention in preventing diabetic foot amputations.
Dr. Anant Suresh, Dean of IISc, spoke about the importance of foot care and the efforts being made by IISc to develop new technologies for diabetic foot protection. Podiatry is a branch of medicine that focuses on the foot and ankle. India has a high rate of diabetic foot amputations, and PODOCON aims to raise awareness about the importance of podiatric care.
