Fund a Child in India (FCI) is a non-profit foundation established in 2014 responsible for developing and implementing various anti-poverty programs and programmes, irrespective of caste, creed or religion.
FCI has successfully implemented programs in the area of interventions for students, college students, early dropouts, youth and young women in disadvantaged rural/semi-urban communities.
Their vision is to liberate the oppressed from their socio, economic & mental clutches through educating and empowering children and mission is to educate & empower a child for a safe and better tomorrow.
In conversation with the co-founders, Mr. JR. Dwaraknath Naidu and Ms. Vijaya Thilakam, they describe FCI as a charitable fund aiming to relieve and help the oppressed. There are four areas of intervention, Education, Quality of Health, Relevant Support to the Poor, Learning Centres/Institutions for the public but their main aim is providing education to primary, secondary and high school students. There is a talent intervention program called Draw Your Dream which is a whole day event where children are spoken to and their talents are tapped in by asking them to sketch their dreams on paper followed by games and a talent show whose beneficiaries are slum children and students from various NGOs.
They plan to pilot a program for eighth and ninth graders to inspire slum communities to build their careers. There is also a training program for engineering students where they are trained for placements and also given a space to showcase their skills.
Fund a Child in India is an educational initiative that implements and plans programs and projects in academic, talent development and most importantly after school child development programmes, in the form of skills training and workshops for primary and secondary school students. There are also various soft, technical and professional skills training courses for college students. A platform to showcase your skills and talents. Workshops; exposure visits; mentoring alongside academic and talent development.
