ISKCON Temple Shines Gold for Childhood Cancer - thisweekindia

Bengaluru, September 20, 2024: The magnificent ISKCON Sri Radha Krishna Temple in Bengaluru, often praised for its stunning architecture and serene ambiance, glowed golden on September 19, 2024, in a heartwarming gesture to raise awareness for childhood cancer. This marked the first time the temple, renowned globally as one of the most beautifully maintained ISKCON temples, illuminated its grand structure in support of International Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, held every September. The golden light, symbolizing the international awareness ribbon for childhood cancer, shone as a beacon of hope and love for children fighting this battle.

The temple, known for its spiritual vibrancy and as a symbol of humility, compassion, and kindness, stood as a powerful representation of these virtues through this initiative. The event, led by Access Life, an NGO that provides holistic care including nutrition, counseling, education, shelter, and transportation for children and families affected by cancer, made history as the ISKCON temple took part in this significant global awareness effort.

Children battling cancer, along with their parents, Access Life Bengaluru center manager                     D. Divyashree, staff, volunteers, and students, gathered at the awe-inspiring temple to witness the golden illumination. Their faces lit up with wonder as the temple, often admired for its peaceful beauty and sacred energy, was bathed in golden hues, reflecting solidarity with their courageous fight.

“ISKCON has always been a sanctuary of love, humility, and kindness. By lighting up our beloved temple in gold, we are standing shoulder to shoulder with children battling cancer, offering them and their families not just prayers, but hope. We are humbled and honored to be part of this cause, and we hope this act of solidarity will inspire more people to raise awareness and extend their support.”

Access Life also expressed their gratitude to the people of Karnataka, especially Bengaluru, for their overwhelming love and support. “The ISKCON Sri Radha Krishna Temple is more than just an architectural marvel—it is a symbol of kindness, devotion, and unity. We are deeply touched by the temple’s participation in raising awareness for childhood cancer. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the temple authorities and the Bengaluru community for their unwavering support,” said a spokesperson from Access Life. “We also welcome the continued involvement of CSR teams, school and college students, housewives, and senior citizens to join our efforts as volunteers, helping us bring hope and care to these children and their families.”

Since its establishment in Bengaluru in 2021, Access Life has provided a safe and nurturing environment for 66 children undergoing cancer treatment. This golden illumination of ISKCON is just one of many initiatives organized during International Childhood Cancer Awareness Month to rally support for young cancer warriors and their families.
