Bengaluru, India: Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research recently performed successful open-heart surgeries on five children from Ethiopia. These life-changing procedures offered hope and a brighter future to children facing complex heart conditions.
Overcoming Challenges:
The children, hailing from different parts of Ethiopia, awaited specialized care for years due to limitations in accessing pediatric cardiac surgery within their country. With support from Rotary International and the dedication of Jayadeva Hospital’s team, these children received the critical treatment they needed.
Teamwork Saves Lives:
Dr. P.K. Sunil, the lead surgeon, along with his team of Dr. Divya, Dr. Rashmi, and other medical professionals, successfully performed the surgeries. Rotary Midtown Bangalore and the Needy Heart Foundation played a crucial role in sponsoring part of the cost, making this life-saving intervention accessible to these families.
Sharing Expertise:
Dr. K S Ravindranath, Director of the Institute, highlighted the prevalence of complex heart diseases in children and the importance of early diagnosis and treatment. He also emphasized Jayadeva’s commitment to providing affordable, high-quality care to patients from across the globe, promoting health tourism and fostering international cooperation in healthcare.
A Story of Hope and Gratitude:
Following a successful recovery period, the children and their families expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, staff, and organizations that made these surgeries possible. They are now returning home with renewed hope and a chance to lead healthy lives.
