Bengaluru, March 18, 2025 – The Karnataka government, in collaboration with the All India Gaming Federation (AIGF), has launched “Beyond Screens,” India’s inaugural industry-driven digital detox center, to address the growing issue of digital addiction. Minister Priyank Kharge inaugurated the center and its official website, marking a significant step in promoting responsible digital consumption.

The “Beyond Screens” initiative aims to combat digital dependency through structured interventions, awareness campaigns, and the integration of digital wellness into mainstream healthcare. The newly launched center will serve as a hub for resources, counseling, and programs designed to foster healthier digital habits.

Key Objectives of “Beyond Screens”:

  • Increase public awareness of excessive digital usage and its consequences.
  • Provide structured programs for developing healthy digital habits.
  • Incorporate digital detox programs into standard healthcare practices.
  • Develop research-based strategies to support individuals and communities.

Minister Priyank Kharge emphasized the government’s commitment to digital well-being, stating, “The ‘Beyond Screens’ initiative reflects our dedication to promoting responsible digital consumption and ensuring the well-being of our citizens. With AIGF’s expertise in responsible gaming, we are taking a crucial step towards a healthier relationship with technology.”

Roland Landers, CEO of AIGF, highlighted the federation’s role in fostering a safe and responsible digital ecosystem. “We are honored to support the Karnataka government in launching ‘Beyond Screens,’ a pioneering initiative in digital wellness,” he said. “This collaboration sets a benchmark for responsible digital engagement.”

“Beyond Screens” is a joint effort between the Department of Electronics, IT, Biotechnology, and Science & Technology, Government of Karnataka (ITBT Karnataka) and AIGF. The initiative aims to expand into a nationwide movement, integrating digital detox strategies into public health programs.
