Mumbai July 08, 2021: In line with the vision of Hon. Prime Minister Narendra Modi to boost Make in India ecosystem and make India plastic-free, Loopify.world announced successful completion of its first year in operations. Being India’s fastest growing and largest zero-plastic online marketplace, Loopify.world offers more than 4000 products sourced from 140+ sellers across 15 Indian states. Founded by serial entrepreneurs Hemal Gathani and Saurabh Gupta, this Mumbai-headquartered company is partnering with ecologically conscious companies to reduce emissions and micro-plastics, by offering high-quality, affordable and earth-friendly alternatives.
The company practices a non-negotiable policy in terms of sourcing, delivery as well as creating awareness among its vendors to adhere to its zero-plastics policy. The company offers a wide range of eco-friendly, upcycled, recycled products which are completely chemical free, cruelty free and locally sourced. In its first year of operations, Loopify.world has helped save 4,000 kgs of plastic going to the landfills and oceans; as well as reduced 1,066 tonnes of carbon emission – simply by offering high quality earth-friendly alternatives.
Speaking on the completion of first year, Hemal Gathani, Co-founder, Loopify.world, said, “Small steps conquer the longest journeys. Given the urgency to reverse an accelerating climate change situation and degrading natural resources owing to micro-plastics contamination across the environment – we believe that each one is willing to adapt to better options provided they are available, accessible and affordable. Loopify is one such attempt to offer plastic free sustainable living products to seed a positive change among millions of Indians.”
India is a signatory to Paris Accord wherein it plans to reduce its carbon emissions significantly in the next decade. At the same time, the country under the leadership of Hon. PM Modi is expected to eliminate single use plastic completely by 2022.
Commenting on the opportunity, Saurabh Gupta, Co-founder, Loopify.world, said, “Besides the vision for eliminating the usage of micro-plastics, we are also proud in empowering the mission of Make in India. Each product sold on Loopify.world is completely manufactured and sourced from within the country. We work with more than 140 sellers, most of whom are MSMEs. Our quest to green and sustainable living has supported livelihoods of more than 3000 workers in the first year of operations alone. In addition, given the acceleration towards implementing ESG (Environment, Sustainability and Governance) frameworks and goals among Indian corporates, we are envisioning a huge opportunity in partnering the needs of the corporates to become more eco-friendly and plastic-free.”
The present product portfolio encompass homeware, kitchen ware, baby usages, festival usages and gifting ideas. Recently, Loopify.world has been tapped by multiple corporates to source products for gifting, staff consumption and build a plastic-free workspace across locations.
The online marketplace doesn’t sell any product which has any remnants or pieces of plastics including anything requiring batteries to operate, bottles or caps or even containers, etc.
As per global studies, 79% plastics waste remain accumulated in environment. 9% is recycled, another with 12% eliminated by incineration. Every year, about a million seabirds and hundred thousand marine mammals die from plastic pollution. The U.S. Centre for Disease Control finds approx. 93% of people tested positive for BPA (Bisphenol A). BPA is found in polycarbonate plastics, used in containers for food, beverages, water bottles.
