Bengaluru, June 5, 2025 – In a powerful display of gratitude and recognition, Lulu Mall Bengaluru marked World Environment Day 2025 by honoring the city’s dedicated “Street Warriors” – the often-unseen individuals who are the backbone of Bengaluru’s waste management and cleanliness efforts. The event, aptly themed “Keeping the City Clean, Keeping the City Green,” shone a much-deserved spotlight on these environmental champions.
Organized with invaluable support from Hasiru Dala and Green Mic, the evening brought together environmentalists, civic officials, corporate leaders, and community members. It was a vibrant blend of celebration, inspiring storytelling, and fervent advocacy for a greener future.
A highlight of the evening was the unveiling of the “Wall of Fame,” a permanent installation designed to share the compelling stories of these Street Warriors. This dedicated space vividly portrays their struggles, remarkable resilience, and immense contributions to Bengaluru’s waste management ecosystem, humanizing their often-overlooked labor.
The heart of the event was the felicitation ceremony, where over 30 Street Warriors received awards for their exemplary service in segregating, collecting, and recycling waste. Each award was a testament to their tireless dedication and vital role in maintaining the city’s environmental health.
