Bengaluru: LuLu Mall Bengaluru, in collaboration with the Karnataka State Fire and Emergency Services Department, launched a fire and safety awareness campaign. The initiative aims to train employees and the public on how to respond effectively in emergency situations and firefighting techniques, while also promoting fire safety practices and prevention measures.
The program, held at LuLu Mall Rajajinagar, was led by R. Mahesh, CFO, KV. Manjunadh, RFO, Kishore Kumar, RFO, Ganesh Vernekar, DFO, Pradeep GC, DFO, Ravi DFO, and Ravenna Siddappa, DFO, from the Karnataka Fire and Emergency Services Department.
Focus Areas of the Program:
- Fire Safety Awareness: The program commenced with a presentation on fire prevention and awareness. Officers emphasized the importance of having a fire action plan and conducting regular fire drills. They highlighted the need for functional smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors in homes, offices, and public spaces. Additionally, officers stressed the importance of knowing the nearest emergency exits and ensuring they are clear and accessible.
- Firefighting Equipment Demonstration: Officers showcased the proper use of firefighting equipment like fire extinguishers, hoses, and breathing apparatus. They explained the correct technique and procedure for handling fire extinguishers, including aiming and squeezing techniques. The use of hoses and nozzles for fire control and extinguishment was also demonstrated.
- Evacuation Drills: The program included simulated fire scenarios with evacuation drills within the mall. Officers guided participants through evacuation routes, ensuring everyone understood the proper exit procedures. The importance of regular evacuation drills and clear roles and responsibilities for individuals during emergencies was emphasized.
